The main objective of the Multimedia Corpus of Macedonian Folk Songs (MCMFS) project is to assign unique identifying numbers (UID) to songs from Macedonian folk cultural heritage.
MCMFS is consistent with the Content Management System multimedia concept by including all possible forms of representation of a song: audio, graphic, textual, and video.
To disseminate the MCMFS content, music students and others were asked to video record themselves with their interpretation of the transcriptions of the songs. These additional videos helped explain both the score and the pronunciation of the lyrics.
The informants were free to create their own interpretation and were not obligated to strictly follow the transcriptions in either music or text.
